Mission: To support an attractive, functional, and resilient built environment through responsive permitting, open long-range planning, and fair, consistent code enforcement.

The Community Development Department is where projects in Fort Bragg begin. We review and issue planning permits, help business owners understand zoning requirements, maintain the City's General Plan and Local Coastal Program, respond to code enforcement concerns, and point residents toward housing and community resources.

We also lead the City's long-range planning work, including the General Plan update, Zoning Code modernization, and planning for reuse of the Mill Site. If you're not sure where to start, call or email us!
