Help Shape Fort Bragg's Housing Future

2027–2035 Housing Element Update

Fort Bragg is starting work on our next Housing Element, and we want to hear from you.

The Housing Element is the part of our General Plan that sets out how the City will plan for housing over the next eight years. It looks at who lives here, what housing we need, where new homes could go, and what the City can do to make housing easier to build and keep. State law requires every city to update its Housing Element, and ours is due in June, 2027.

The City doesn't usually build housing itself. What we can do is plan and zone land, make permits faster and simpler, invest in infrastructure, protect the homes we already have, go after funding, and partner with nonprofits and local builders. This update is how we decide where to focus.

Take the Community Housing Survey

Our survey takes about 8–10 minutes. It's anonymous, and every question is optional. Whether you rent, own, work here, run a business, or have had to move away because of housing costs, your experience matters.

Paper copies are available at City Hall, 416 N. Franklin Street, and at our outreach events.
