The City of Fort Bragg requires any business operating and profiting within city limits to acquire a City of Fort Bragg business license. Please see below for more information.
Business License
New business licenses can be obtained in-person at the Fort Bragg City Hall located at 416 N Franklin Street, Fort Bragg, CA 95437 or online through Business License or Business License - Spanish. Fort Bragg City Hall is open Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00pm and closed all day Wednesday for in service. Payment for the business license at this time will need to be made in person by card, cash, or check. Payments can be made to the City of Fort Bragg and mailed as well.
Business License Renewals will be mailed out January 1st of the new calendar year and are due by February 28th. If you have not received your renewal form please contact the City of Fort Bragg at (707) 961-2825 ext 120 or in person at 416 N Franklin Street, Fort Bragg, CA 9543.
The application can either be mailed or submitted in person to the City of Fort Bragg at 416 N Franklin St, Fort Bragg, CA 95437. Payment for the business license at this time will need to be made in person by card, cash, or check. Payments can be made out to the City of Fort Bragg. The City of Fort Bragg does not currently require a business to obtain a Fictitious Name. If you would like to obtain one this process is completed through the Mendocino County offices located at 120 W Fir Street, Fort Bragg, CA, 95437 or 501 Low Gap Rd, Ukiah, CA 95482. Alcohol or Tobacco
Businesses selling tobacco are required by the City’s municipal code to obtain an annual tobacco retailer’s license, which can be obtained at the same time as a business license.
Businesses selling alcohol or tobacco products, must provide a copy of your valid license is required to obtain a business license. Contact the State Board of Equalization to obtain information in order to sell any of these items.

If your business is producing any product that will be consumed a health permit is required. You may obtain these permits through the Mendocino County Environmental Health Department, offices are located at 120 W Fir Street, Fort Bragg, CA, 95437 or 501 Low Gap Rd, Ukiah, CA 95482. Please note that no business license will be produced until all permits have been received by the City of Fort Bragg.
If any persons besides the applicant of the business license will be entering the business location a fire inspection will be required. All new businesses employing one or more persons must apply for a State Employer’s Identification number by contacting The State’s Employment Development Department at: 1-888-745-3886 or visiting their website at http://www.edd.ca.gov/, you may also need a Federal Identification number if you are employing one or more persons, and you may contact the IRS Business Tax line at 1-800-829-1040 or visit their website at www.irs.gov.
